Here’s the story
Of a Bossy Lady
Who I worked for and I thought I was in Hell
She “almost” had her own degree
In ‘Puter Science
And yet she couldn’t spell.
Despite the fact that my work area is increasingly covered with piles of crap because my requests for organizational tools have gone unanswered, I have somehow managed to keep one plastic tub full of manila folders somewhat organized. This particular tub holds the paperwork for all of our current property listings. The folders are arranged alphabetically by street name. The tab on each folder has the street address of the property, followed by the property owner’s last name in parentheses, e.g., 123 Pine Street (Morris).
BossMan called and wanted BossLady to look and see if a certain property’s folder had a certain item in it. BossLady attempted to navigate the perilous and confusing waters of my alphabetic filing system, and finally asked me for help. What follows is the dialogue we engaged in:
BossLady [fumbling with the folders in the tub]: “Do we have Morris’s folder?”
Me [barely casting a glance over my shoulder]: “Should be there, under ‘Pine.’”
BossLady [still fumbling]: “Under ‘M’ for ‘Morris,’ right?”
Me [now casting a puzzled glance, and not quite concealing the "duh" in my tone, unfortunately]: “No, under ‘P’ for ‘Pine.’”
